The daughter of John Matthias Roth and Mary Ann Bellm, "Mary" married John Frank Baumann on 04 Apr 1910 in Calhoun County, Illinois. He was a farmer, and they were the parents of 7 children.

After her husband's death in 1949, Mary moved to Hardin. She was ill for an extended period of time when she died at the home of her daughter, Marie Smith. At the time of her death, Mary was 70 years, 2 months and 13 days old.

In addition to her daughter, Marie, Mary was survived by 3 other daughters, Sister Mary Gabriel of Arlington Heights, Rose Raw of Jerseyville, and Bernadette Baumann of Hardin; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters, Anna Naber of Jerseyville, and Sister Mary Delores of St. Louis; and 2 brothers, John Roth of Carrollton, and Henry Roth of Hardin.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter, Edna; and 2 sons, John and an infant son, Carl

Visitation was held after 1 p.m. on 28 Apr 1957 at Hanks Funeral Home in Hardin. The rosary was recited at 7:30 that evening. Funeral services were conducted at 9 a.m. the following morning at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin. Mary was buried next to her husband, John.
