WATERBORO – George C. Abbott Sr., 66, lifelong resident of Waterboro, passed away at his home on Wednesday June 29, 2005 surrounded by his family. He was born in Waterboro on December 4, 1938 a son of Percy H. Jr., and Ellen E. (Noyce) Abbott.

He attended local schools and graduated from Sanford High School in 1957. He then served in the US Air Force from 1958 until 1962. On July 27, 1963 he married the former Sharon A. Wight in Gorham and together raised their family in Waterboro. At the time of his death Mr. Abbott was employed as a custodian for S.A.D. # 57 with 20 years of service. He was a member of the Fraternal Lodge in Alfred. He was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He and Sharon both enjoyed going to Foxwood's. Above all he enjoyed spending quality time with his family, children and grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his father, Percy H. Abbott Jr., and one brother, John C. Abbott. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon A. Abbott of Waterboro, his mother, Ellen E. Abbott of Waterboro, his children, Jeffrey A. Abbott, Lori A. Place and her husband William, George C. Abbott Jr., and his wife Lori, and Debra L. Taylor and her husband Travis, all of Waterboro, two sisters, Ann C. Abbott of Waterboro, Audrey H. Flood of Vernon, CT, one brother, Robert P. Abbott of Gorham, 10 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Tuesday July 5 from 5-8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main Street in Springvale where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11am with Rev. Charles Storey officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterboro.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home 580 Main Street, Springvale.
