SOUTH WATERBORO – Percy H. Abbott Jr., 70, of Main Street, died Saturday at the H.D. Goodall Hospital, following a long illness.

He was born in Waterboro, April 13, 1915, son of Percy Sr. and Clara Jones Abbott, and was a 9132 graduate of Waterboro High School.

Abbott was employed by the former Waterboro Co. as a truck driver, watchman and laborer for 28 years, retiring in 1979. He also worked for the former Clark's Sawmill and the former Waterboro Box Co. He lived here all his life.

His survivors are his wife of 49 years, Ellen Noyce Abbott of Waterboro; three sons, George Abbott of Waterboro, Robert Abbott of Gorham and John Abbott of North Berwick; two daughters, Ann Abbott of Waterboro and Audrey Flood of Vernon, CT; two brothers, Alton and Henry Abbott, both of Waterboro; two sister, Lydia Mailhot of Sudbury, MA, and Major Helen Abbott of Philadelphia, PA; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are to be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Springvale, with the Rev. Carleton D. Pickard of Waterboro officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are tonight 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
