Elizabeth Rooney, 84, a longtime Dobbs Ferry resident, died Tuesday at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains after a long illness.
Born in Yonkers on May 6. 1895, she was educated in Yonkers schools and had been living in Dobbs Ferry for the last 25 years.
Mrs. Rooney was a member of the Senior Citizens of Ardsley and a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Ardsley.
She married William J. Rooney Sr. in Yonkers on 13 Dec 1914. He died in 1967.
Mrs. Rooney is survived by six sons, Thomas Rooney of Elmsford, William Rooney of Hillside, NY. James Rooney of Tavares. Fla., Robert Rooney of Hastings-on-Hudson, Donald Rooney of Mooresville, N.C., and Joseph Rooney of Mahopac; three daughters, Mrs. John (Patricia) Lombardi of Boyton Beach. Fla., and Mrs. Caleb (Joan) Ward and Mrs Russell (Jacqueline) Brown, both of Dobbs Ferry; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter. Delores McLoughlin.
