William J. Rooney, 76, of Rising Moon Trail, a self-employed retailer, died Thursday at Memorial Hospital.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y., Mr. Rooney came to this area in 1981 from Hillsdale, N.Y. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Moose Lodge. He was also a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Josephine; two sisters, Joan Ward, Baltimore, and Patricia Lombardi, Boynton Beach; and three brothers, James, Tavares, Donald, Mooresville, N.C., and Joseph, Mahopac, N.Y. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 555 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach 32174. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.
