Betty Jean Wolverton was born to Melvin Garland Wolverton and Juanita Fay Pendleton-Wolverton.

She was a sibling of Sandra Kay Wolverton-Garner and Richard Ray Wolverton Sr. A half sister to Melvin, Marvin, Ruthie, Arlyna & Loretta.

Moving from Bremerton, Washington to Exeter, California with her family at age 4 years, Betty attended school there in the farming town of Exeter, and graduated from Exeter Union High School. She also attended College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California and majored in Business.

Betty married David Edward Dwyer George in Three Rivers, California in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains at the United Presbyterian Church by Rev J. Bishop. David was a son of George Edward Dwyer, Esther Mae Casey-Dwyer-George and a step-son to James A George of Dover, Ohio and had been married once before.

David had three sons from this prior marriage and with Betty together they raised the sons in their late teen years, Step-Son Troy Michael GeorgeTroy, Ty Step Son Ty Alfred Georgeand Step-Son Nick Casey George.

David was in the hotel industry and so they moved with each new promotion. New locations: Texas, North Carolina, Maryland, Washington, Massachusetts, Grand Cayman-British West Indies, Florida, Massachusetts retired and then moved to their home in Dover, Ohio.

Hobbies: Photography, Traveling, Camping, Canoeing, Fishing, Hunting, Snorkeling, Golfing, Cooking, Baking and embracing the great outdoors with her family.

Charitable, religious affiliations; positions held: Betty was baptized at the United Presbyterian Church in Visalia, California and was a Sunday School Teacher there from 1976 – 1978 enjoying her devotion to church and the community.

While living in Maryland, Betty and her husband David participated in Ride for Kids – winning 4th place for the state of Maryland as the most money raised, for the John Hopkins Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Foundation.

Betty held accounting positions and worked for several years with The Ritz-Carlton Hotels Inc and was part of the opening team for two properties.

Personal Achievements: Survivor of Breast Cancer and a war against Lymphoma stage 4 cancer for some time in her liver and both lungs.

Family preceding Betty in death: Father, Melvin Garland Wolverton, Mother, Juanita Fay Pendleton-Kitchens-Wolverton-Price-Chambers, brothers, Melvin, Marvin & Richard Wolverton and Robert Ray Radford, two sisters, Ruthie Durin & Loretta Faye Kitchens-Wadlow and one step-son, Troy Michael George. Also, her Aunt Irelene May Pendleton-Ellison, Nieces Annie Wadlow-Ridings, Catherine M Wolverton-Fisher and Great Nephew CJ Wadlow.

Family surviving: Loving husband David Edward Dwyer George, step-sons, Ty A and Nick C George, siblings - Arlyna, Sandra Kay. Granddaughter from Ty :Emily Rose. Grandsons from Troy: Aaron and Camron. Great Grandsons from Aaron: Aaron Jr, Gage and Hayes. Nick and Daughter-in-law Kellie Hanshe-George, Grandchildren Christian, Brandon, Noel and Noah. Uncles, nephews, nieces, and many cousins. Also, leaving behind are many relatives and friends in Exeter, Tulare County, California where Betty grew up.

Instead of flowers the Dwyer, George, Kitchens, Wadlow, Pendleton and Wolverton families would encourage a Memorial donation in her honor to the American Cancer society. The ACS was there for Betty and David serving their needs beyond measure.
