Frank E. Bear, a resident of Tama county all his life, died Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at his home in Toledo. Death followed an illness of almost a year, due to heart trouble and complications. Mr. Bear would have been 74 years old October 19. He was born in Howard township, son of Daniel and Barbara Bear. His marriage to Minnie Sperry, daughter to Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Sperry of Howard township, took place May 11, 1893, in Toledo, at the home of Rev. S.A. Lee, a retired Methodist minister. Mr. and Mrs. Bear made their home in Howard township for twenty years, then moved to Toledo where he worked as a butcher in the Schuldt meat market. During the first world war he was employed by the government, and for a time worked at the paper mill in Tama. For eighteen years he worked at the State Juvenile home as engineer, until he became ill about a year ago, and had been confined to his home most of the time since. Mr. and Mrs. Bear observed their golden wedding anniversary this spring. Mr. and Mrs. Bear were the parents of three daughters, Mrs. Howard Mason, Traer; Mrs. N.R. McAnulty and Mrs. Earl Emerson, of Toledo, who with their mother survive. There are also four grandchildren; Mrs. John A. Bailey, of Carrizo Springs, Tex.; Mrs. Arthur Bandle, of Traer; and Richard and Ronald Emerson, of Toledo, and two brothers, Edward, of Crow's Landing, Calif., and Lewis, of Washington, Kan. The funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at the Henderson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, northwest of Toledo.
