He was injured and suffered from many wounds. He applied for a military pension on 11 Feb 1868 from Montpelier, Vermont. These records indicate that he suffered from typhoid fever and tuberculosis.
There is a stone marker in the family grave site in East Warren, Vermont for him, but it is believed he was buried elsewhere. He mustered out as Private.
