COMPETINE PIONEER WOMAN PASSES AWAY
Farson, April 29. --- Mrs. Caroline Clarke, aged 79 years, and a pioneer resident of this township, died this morning at her home in Competine, following a brief illness. Death resulted from pneumonia and heat complications. Surviving Mrs. Clarke are one daughter, Mrs. Jesse Vannoy of Competine, and three sons, Bert Riley of Farson, Ed Riley and Will Riley, both of this community. Will is a surgical patient at St. Joseph's hospital, in Ottumwa, where he was conveyed Monday after sustaining serious injuries in a collision with a train at the railroad crossing in Martinsburg.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, but the funeral will probably be held tomorrow, from Competine. Interment will be made in Competine cemetery.
