Aged: 19y 7m 15d.
According to an old Jefferson county genealogy family group sheet information on this Spurlock family, the full given name was perhaps "Marquis DeLafayette Spurlock"; but the inscription on his monument just uses "Lafayette". Subsequent findings by Betty Hootman and probably others discount that name, so "Lafayette" is used for this memorial.
Reportedly he died of wounds received at Mark's Mills, Arkansas; a member of Co. H 36 Iowa Inf't.
His headstone is now toppled from the base and his inscription, though facing up, is very weathered. This contributor tried to get a decent photo of the inscription, but couldn't come up with much detail to be shown.
The monument is shared with an inscription for his brother Andrew J Spurlock. Possibly there is an inscription for his sister Aperilla, but that side is embedded in the ground and not visible.
