Mrs. Guill was born on March 24, 1924 in Oxford, N.C., a daughter of the late John Washington Reece and the late Mattie Greene Reece. She had most of her life in the Danville area where she prepared food, pastries and jellies for everyone. She was a member of White Oak Worship Center, where she was a member of the Gems. She was first married to Howard Merricks, who died on June 17, 1953 and later married Robert Guill, who predeceased her on October 20, 2003.


Mrs. Guill is survived by four sons, Larry J. Merricks and wife, Susan of Sutherlin, LeRoy Merricks and wife, Valerie of Blairs, Danny K. Merricks and wife, Brenda of Derry, N.H., Bobby Guill of Danville, one daughter, Brenda "Judy" Widner and husband, James of Dry Fork, four sisters, Nancy Richardson of Ringgold, Hazel Gammon of Dry Fork, Mildred Sullivan of Blacksburg, Jean Niday and husband, Pete of Danville, sixteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Clayton Dean Merricks, three deceased brothers, Junior Reece, James Reece, Ray Reece and two deceased sisters, Shirley Reece and Faye Griffith.
