Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Reed Price, age 108, of Crockett and formerly of Centerville are scheduled for 2 pm, Sunday, June 10th at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. Rev. Joy Richards, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville, will officiate and the burial will be in the Centerville Cemetery. Visitation is set for Saturday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM. Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mamie Price was born in Leon County on February 2, 1904. She had a twin sister named Maudie. Their parents were William M. and Florence (Simons) Reed. Her two brothers and three sisters (including Maudie) preceded her in death. Maudie was over 100 years in age when she died. Mamie married Frank Price in 1923 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage. They were blessed with five children: Glenn, Ralph, Billy, Frances and Mary. Glenn, Billy and Frances preceded her in death. Mamie lived most of her life in Leon County being a wife and mother. In later years, she worked for the Centerville I.S.D. as a cook in the high school cafeteria. She enjoyed spoiling the kids with her peanut butter cookies and her homemade rolls. Mamie enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing. She was a member of the First United Church of Centerville and was a devoted Christian wife, mother, aunt and friend to everyone. Mamie is survived by a daughter, Mary Price Stokes and her husband, Roy, of Crockett, a son, Ralph Price of Centerville, ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, seventeen great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mamie passed away early Friday morning, June 8th at a Crockett nursing home. She will surely be missed by many.
