Flora Bell Weathers

(ROANOKE) Funeral services for Flora Bell Weathers, 85, of Rt. 3 Roanoke were Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1992, at 2 p.m. from White's Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Carl Long and Rev. Stoney Halsey officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Weathers died Sunday, Sept. 13, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home in Atlanta.

A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mrs. Weathers was born Aug. 12, 1907, daughter of Dee Eston and Tweedie Bell May Adcock. She was a member of White's Chapel United Methodist Church and for many years wrote the White's Chapel community news for The Roanoke Leader. Her husband, Willie B. Weathers, and a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth W. Traylor, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Napier of Roanoke and Mrs. Linda W. Brown of LaGrange, Ga.; five sons, Oliver Weathers of Mableton, Ga., John D. Weathers of Hampton, Ga., J. Reese Weathers of Forest Park, Ga., Bonney B. Weathers of Ellenwood, Ga., and David A. Weathers of Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. Winnie Veal of Roanoke and Mrs. Liza Burdette of LaGrange; two brothers, Arnie C. Adcock and Thomas L. Adcock of Roanoke; and 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Felix Weathers, Charles Traylor, Rusty Weathers, Matthew Weathers, Keith Weathers, and Mark Weathers.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to White's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Quattlebaum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
