Margaret A. 'Maggie' Collins was born February 12, 1856, in Arkansas, daughter of Abraham Collins and Amelia (maiden name unknown). Maggie had a number of siblings, including: Clara, Henry, Elizabeth, Delia, William, Mary, Gertrude, John, Robert, and Thomas.

The 1870 Federal Census for Washington, Arkansas (Sevier County) (Ben Lomond Post Office) shows Margaret, age 13, born in Arkansas; living with her father, Abraham, a farmer, age 48, born in Alabama; and her mother, Amelia, age 36, born in South Carolina. Also living in the household were Margaret's siblings: Clara, age 17, born in Mississippi; Henry, age 15, born in Mississippi; Elizabeth, age 12, born in Mississippi; Delia, age 11, born in Mississippi; William, age 10, born in Arkansas; Mary, age 7, born in Arkansas; Gertrude, age 5, born in Arkansas; John, age 4, born in Arkansas; Robert, age 3, born in Arkansas; and Thomas, age 1, born in Arkansas.

Margaret first married Needham Marshall Pipkin, who was born March 12, 1833 in Maury County, Tennessee, son of David B. Pipkin (1802-1870) and unknown Mother ( died after 1840 census in Hardeman County, TN.) Needham had an earlier marriage and had 10 children by his first marriage. Margaret and Needham had two sons, Arthur (1887-1887) and Grover (1888-1918). Arthur was stillborne and Grover died in World War I in the service of his country.

Margaret and Needham divorced. Margaret then married Baley J. Kittley (1842-1913) and they had no children. Margaret died September 13, 1899 in Little River County, Arkansas and was buried there in Oak Hill Cemetery.
