Carol Genevieve Batdorf, 93, a resident of Rivers Edge Villa, International Falls, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Falls Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 3, 1907, at Ulen, she went to Minneapolis and was employed at a bakery, later going to work at Honeywell where she remained for 19 years.

On June 28, 1944, the former Carol Genevieve Asleson married Fred Batdorf. Following his return home from the Air Corp in 1946, the couple moved to Ericsburg for a short time and then to the Falls where they remained.

She was also employed as a bookkeeper and sales clerk at Specialty Dress Shop for 19 years.

A member of Faith United Church of Christ, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and TOPS for several years, she loved knitting and crocheting.

She will be remembered for her sense of humor.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, Fred, who preceded her in death on June 18, 2000, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Nellie (Fevig) Asleson; two sisters, Eleanor Asleson and Margaret Johnson; and one brother, Archie Asleson.

Survivors include two brothers, Robert Asleson of Hawley and Roland Asleson of Moorhead; two sisters, Ruth "Patsy" Maxfield of Richfield and Janet Solie of Ulen; one brother-in-law, Keith Johnson; one sister-in-law, Edith Freden; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, at Faith United Church of Christ with the Rev. Sue Hamly officiating.

Interment will be in the Veterans of Foreign Wars section of Forest Hill Cemetery.
