On August 17, 1941, she married Vince Solie in a private ceremony at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. After Vince got out of the Army, they made their home in Ulen where they raised their family. She sold Avon products for a few years and also had daycare in her home for a short time. She was the secretary at Bethlehem Lutheran Church for 16 years and also wrote the community news for the Ulen Union for many years. She was a volunteer at Viking Manor and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Some of her hobbies included gardening, ceramics, reading, crossword puzzles, and handwork. She and Vincent moved to the Northern Lights Apartments in 1996, after living in the same house for 50 years. They moved to Viking Manor in 1999. Vince died in July of 1999.
Janet is survived by one son, John (Joann) Solie, Brooklyn Center, MN; two daughters, Jean (Dennis) Pfau, Fargo, ND and Karen (David) Lien, Ulen, MN; two grandsons, Kyle Solie of Brooklyn Center, MN and Chuck (Wendy) Lien of Ulen, MN; four granddaughters, Shannon (John) Chounard, Shelley (Keith) Hilde, Stacey (James) Anderson, and Christy (Dan) Stall, all of Ulen, MN; 14 great grandchildren, Tracey (Tony) Holte of Dilworth, Lindsey and Tanner Hilde, David, Wyatt, and Charlie Jo Lien, Levi, Colby, Lacey, and Jacey Anderson, Alissa, Austin, Katelyn, and Alexa Stall all of Ulen, MN; and three great-great granddaughters, Molly, Drew, and Lainey Junetta Holte of Dilworth, MN; one sister, Patsey Maxfeld of Chicago, IL; one brother, Robert Asleson of Rollag, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and three brothers.
