William Henry Baker was born 9 Jan 1878 near Crockett, Houston Co, Texas, the son of Murdock MacIntosh Baker and Nancy Carter Royall. His twin sister was named Lucy May. W. H. Baker attended public schools in Crockett. He graduated from Trinity University at Waxahachie in 1903, later studying theology at Cumberland University, Lebanon, TN where he received a bachelor of divinity degree in 1908. Baker was ordained as a minister at Percilla, Houston Co, Texas in Dec 1903. After ordination he served churches in Quanah, Vernon, Jacksonville and Dallas.

Rev. Baker was active in the Presbyterian hierarchy, serving in commissions and committees of the local presbytery and the Texas synod, serving as clerk of the Dallas Presbytery for your years and as a commissioner to the general assembly of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. He became a minister of the Exposition Park Presbyterian Church in June 1922, after apparently being called from a church in Jacksonville.

According to his obituary, Baker became ill on Saturday 17 July 1926 and died at his home 824 ½ Third Avenue, Dallas, Texas about 2 am Sunday, 18 July of "heart trouble." Funeral services were at his Exposition Park Church in Dallas. Services were later held in Crockett. Baker was survived by his second wife, four children, and five brothers, Arch and John F. of Crockett; Harry of Sacramento, California; D. R. Baker of Paris, Texas; and Tucker Baker of Sylacauga, Alabama. He was also survived by three sisters: Mrs. George Denny of Crockett; Mrs. O. C.
