Last Rights Held for Arch Baker of Crockett - Arch Baker, 78, died in a Crockett hospital October 8, 1948. Service were held Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian church with Rev. H. Gage Lloyd of Big Springs officiating. Interment was in the Crockett cemetery. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. George Denny, Crockett, Mrs. Cater Anderson, Paris, two brothers, Tucker Baker, Crockett, and Harry M. Baker, Sacramento, California. Mr. Baker was born and reared in Houston County. He was an honorary member of the Masonic Lodge and was past master of the local Masonic body. He was a life member of Knights of Pythias Lodge Lodge and was past chancellor. He was past president of the First National Bank of Crockett where he was employed for 47 years before retirement, and was a Deacon of the Presbyterian church. Pallbearers were J. L. Burton, T. E. Walden, W. E. Hall, Jr., W. H. Denny, Frank Granberry and Dan Craddock. Arrangements were by the Callaway Funeral Home. Source: The Grapeland Messenger of 14 Oct 1948.
