Lanning, and Nora Eleanor Lanning. After her husband passed away, as her descendant Ethel Albin of Sabetha, KS wrote: "Mary Eleanor lived with her dau. Nora until her death, with occasional visits to the other children who lived nearby. . . . She died three days after Christmas. . . .as the result of acute septicemia, brought on perhaps by a scratch. . . ."

The 1883 family group picture shows the Van Lanning family with Van & Mary Eleanor's daughter Nora standing between them and Mary Eleanor's parents Moses & Enora (Barnes) Powell seated in the center. The occasion of the family group picture was the marriage of Amy Lanning to James Hoy. They are pictured to the left of Enora with Amy holding flowers and Jim standing by Amy.
