Elden William Allen, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully in his sleep January 6, 1999 after a long illness.
He was born January 10, 1921 to James William Allen and Nellie Catherine Peterson. Married Verna Merle Winter, June 22, 1947 later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They have eight children.
Elden devoted his life to his family, sacrificing material possessions to take care of the needs of his family. Elden loved to fish and hunt especially with his five sons. They spent many memorable hours together climbing mountains, walking fields or sitting along a shoreline enjoying their precious time together.
Elden has such a cute and funny sense of humor, all those who knew him truly loved him no matter how bad things were or no matter how sick he was. He always was able to joke with and comfort those around him. He was a truck driver for Clark Tank Lines for 30 years. He is a member of the LDS Church.
He is survived by children, Donald Ray (Linda), Elden Lamont (Judy), Dale William (Deanna), Kenny Allen (Marsha), Janice England (Kim), Galyne Olsen (Gary), Bryan Allen (Linda), Colleen Aubrey (Darrell); 34 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother Russell Allen and sisters Elaine White, Kathryn Gibson, Shirley Harvey and Joann Bates. Preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Verna.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 11, 1999, 12 noon at the Murray Dale Ward chapel 6300 So. 3rd East. Friends may call Sunday, January 10, 1999 at Memorial Estates Mortary 5850 So. 900 E. from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Memorial Estates Redwood Cemetery.
We would like to thank all the nurses who took care of our father at Cottonwood Hospital Oncology for their loving care.
