PIPER CITY - Helen Read Jackson, 96, of Paducah, Ky., formerly of Piper City, died today (June 6, 1997) at Superior Care Home, Paducah.

Visitation will be from noon Sunday until the 1 p.m. services at United Methodist Church in Piper City. The Rev. Kathy King-Nobles will officiate.

Burial will be in Brenton Cemetery, Piper City.

Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church, Piper City, where she had been a member.

She was born April 16, 1901 in Piper City, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Read. She graduated from Piper City High school and attended college for one year.

Her first husband, Kirker B. Hawthorne, and second husband, Charles Jackson, both preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Jim Hawthorne of Paducah; two grandchildren, Brad Hawthorne of Paducah and Becky Kearney of Tampa, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren.

One sister and brother are deceased.

She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
