Michael Ashby, the son of Michael Carnes and Rhoda Heath. He grew to manhood in Logan County, Bellefontaine, Ohio. He married Florida Kennedy, the daughter of John O. Kennedy and Sarah Ann Parrish, on Dec. 11, 1879. Several children were born to them: Art, Mary Olive, John Eddy, Rhoda Catherine, Noah Ark, Adaline Jane, Joseph Armor, and Marion Martin. Michael Ashby died from food poisioning after eating in a cafe that he worked at. Burial was in the Blue Jacket Cemetery in Logan Co. Ohio next to his Mother's grave. His grave was unmarked.
Michael was a farmer. Notations made in the "Daily Chronicle of Bellefontaine" were found on July 23,24th,25th and the 26th. Micheal died on July 27th at the local hospital on a Sunday evening. The next article found written in a small area: Tuesday July 29, 1913; "Funeral of Michael Carnes...died Sunday evening was held Tuesday afternoon at Blue Jacket Church in charge of Rev. W.G. Evans. Burial made at Blue Jacket Cemetery. He is buried beside his mother, Roody Heath Carnes."
