Joseph Armor Carnes grew up in Logan County, Bellefontaine, Ohio. He was the son of Michael Ashby Carnes Jr. and Florida Kennedy. He was one of eight children born to them. He married Ethel Alayne Watts, daughter of James B. and Martha Watts, on April 5, 1916 in Lima, Allen Co. Ohio. Joseph continued to work and live in Bellefontaine as a machinest. In later years he work for the N.Y.C. railroad. Joseph died in Lakeview, Ohio on the 28th of October, 1978. His wife Ethel died the following year April 6, 1979. No known children were born to Joseph and Ethel. Obituary published in the Bellefontaine Examiner on the 30th of October 1978, page 7 col 5. Joseph was laid to rest in the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Section 13.
