C. BURKHART PASSES AWAY
Was Operator of Macon Elevator for Number of Years; Services Thursday
Charles Burkhart, well known resident, and former operator of the Macon Elevator, passed away this morning at 7:15 o'clock at his home on Goggin street. He was 70 years old last Wednesday.
Mr. Burkhart was born on a sailing vessel on the Atlantic Ocean in American waters of German parents on November 25, 1865. His parents settled in Schuyler county, Missouri, and there he grew to manhood.
He was united in marriage to Caroline Gieselman in 1890. To this union two children were born, Edgar C. M. Burkhart, now of Webster Groves, and Mrs. Gladys Snyder of Denver, Colo. His wife preceded him in death in 1913.
In 1914 he was married to Flora Isbeque. She passed away in 1919 and in 1922 he married her sister, Freda Isbeque, who survives.
Mr. Burkhart in 1915 built the Macon Elevator which he operated for many years. He had been in failing health for some time and in his latter years was not active in the elevator business.
Surviving are his wife, his two children, Edgar Burkhart and Gladys Snyder, three grandchildren, Helen, Charles and Leah Mae Burkhart, all of Webster Groves, two brothers, William Burkhart, Mankato, Minn., and Albert Burkhart, Greentop, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. G. A. Hennnick, Pasadena, Calif.
Funeral services will be held from the family residence at 219 Goggin street Thursday afternoon at, 3:00 o'clock. Burial will be made at Woodlawn Cemetery.
