Ernest "Dick" Barger, 63, passed away Wednesday, February 19, at 6:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Hospital in Centerville. He had been a patient for one day. Death was attributed to a heart condition.
Mr. Barger resided at 1506 South 19th Street in Centerville. He was a resident of this area all of his life and a retired coal miner. He was born June 9, 1905 in Appanoose County, the son of Albert and Nellie Starr Barger.
On December 24, 1930 he was united in marriage to Minnie Conn who preceded him in death, May 18, 1961. He was also preceded in death by his mother and two infant children, Richard and Rachel.
Surviving are two sons, Dale A. Barger of Great Lakes, Ill. and Donald Barger, USS Hancock, CVA 19, San Francisco, Calif., his father, Albert Barger of Centerville and four grandsons and one granddaughter also surivives.
Donald was home on leave from Vietnam with his family who reside in Centerville at the time of his father's death.
