Donald L. Barger, 64, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Mercy Hospital following open heart surgery. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, January 14 at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel followed by cremation and private inurnment at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Don was born on August 10, 1945 in Centerville, IA where he grew up. He went into the U.S. Navy in 1963 and served
until he took a medical discharge in 1979. He then worked at the VA Hospital in Des Moines. He married Linda Watts in 1961 and they divorced in 1973. She preceded him in death. He married Diana Kirk in 1974, who survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Those left to honor Don's memory include his wife, Diana; seven children, Donald L. Barger, Jr., Christopher
Barger, Terri L. Barger, Bobbie L. Spoon, Randy (Chris) Barger, Bobby (Mollie) Barger and Michelle (Earl) Barger; 42 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
