Percy's mother, Elizabeth Simpson Brock died when he was born. Percy was raised by his grandmother, and Aunt Lula in Attala County, Mississippi. He considered Aunt Lula and Uncle Henry Jenkins and their children to be his family. Percy died in the early hours of February 13, 1959 in a boarding house in Natchez, Mississippi, where he was working as a carpenter. Percy was originally buried in the Jenkins Cemetery in Attala County, Mississippi. In 1972, following the death of his son, Percy Guy Brock, Jr. in the Vietnam War, Percy's body was moved to Parkway Cemetery so the family would be together.
