THOMAS ROACH, 68, DIED ON TUESDAY
Thomas Roach, aged 68, died on Tuesday following an illness of two years. Although Mr. Roach had been in failing health for some time it was only a week ago that he was forced to go to bed. On Tuesday, however, he became seriously ill and it was found necessary to summon an ambulance to remove him to St. Vincent's Hospital. He died en route.
Thomas Roach, a son of Pat and Margaret Scanlon Roach, was born on Sept. 3, 1868, near Morton, Ind. He was a resident of this county practically all of his life. In 1892 he was united in marriage with Miss Delia Dugan, who, with six children, survives. They are Mrs. Mary Gibbs, Mrs. Lauretta Hart of Indianapolis, Mrs. Genevieve Miller of Seattle, Wash., Henen, a nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital, Jane and Pat, at home; the eldest daughter, Mrs. William Wiley and son, Martin, deceased. He is also survived by two brothers, John, of Terre Haute and Dan, of Buhl, Idaho, and a stister, Mrs. James Thomspon, of Pittsboro. Twenty-three grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Roach had followed the selling of livestock all of his life and was probably more widely known over this section than any of the older residents. A man who made friends wherever he went, "Tom" as he was known, had many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 9:00 from St. Malachy's church, with the Rev. Father James Shea, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be made in St. Malachy's Cemetery
