Chauncey Hamilton, 78, of 1539 26th Ave., Moline, a retired Moline fireman, died at 1 this morning in the Happy Haven Rest Home, Silvis, Where he resided since Aug. 7, 1957.
Services will be held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon in the Esterdahl Chapel with the Rev. Erik Hagg, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 tomorrow afternoon at the chapel.
Mr. Hamilton as a fireman in Moline for 34 years, retiring in 1941.
The son of Oscar and Elizabeth Hamilton was born in Blairstown, Iowa. He married Frieda Ruebling on March 4, 1922 in Wilton Junction, Iowa.
He was a 50 year member of the Moline Eagles and a member of the Moline Turners and a charter member of the Moline Firefighters Ass.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ray Brasmer and Alice, both of Moline; two sons, George and Chauncey Jr., Arizona; five grandchildren; and a brother, John E. Cleveland, Ohio.
His wife, a sister and seven brothers preceded him in death.

Chauncey Hamilton was previously married to Clara Mueller. Clara was born in Moline Illinois on May 5, 1886. Clara contracted typhoid fever and died on January 8, 1919 in Moline Illinois. Clara was the mother of George and Chauncey Jr.
