Funeral Services for Beth Knowlton, 82 of McIntosh/Isabel are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 26th at the McIntosh School Auditorium, McIntosh, SD. Pastor David Ling will officiate. Interment will follow at 4 PM at Hillview Cemetery, Isabel.
Special music will be provided by Keith Gall and Hunter Widvey, soloists and DeVonne Schuh, accompanist.
Casketbearers will include Buck J Knowlton, Dean Swift, Zach Knowlton, Randy Alley, Jack Anderson and Chad Knowlton with her family, friends and students considered honorary bearers.
Mrs. Knowlton, longtime McIntosh educator, passed away in a Bismarck, ND hospital on Weds. May 23rd, 2012 following a lengthy illness.
Lenora Beth Lauderdale was born in Ackerly, Texas on September 22, 1929 and married Buck Knowlton on May 11, 1947. They had four children, Little Buck, Jean Lenora, Winnie Beth, and Bill Jim, and moved to a ranch in the Isabel area in 1952. She earned a teaching degree from Black Hills State University by traveling to Spearfish. Beth taught for over 38 years, in country schools, Head Start, GED classes, elementary and upper grades; with most of the years in McIntosh. She "officially" retired but then continued to substitute teach until after her 80th birthday. She earned several advanced degrees and honors but said of her life, "All I ever wanted to be was a wife, a mother, and a teacher, and I hope I was good at all three."
She was preceded in death by her husband C. Buck , son L. Buck, grandson Michael, and ten of her siblings.
She is survived by daughters Jeanne Knowlton of Hill City and Beth (Tim) Johnson of Firesteel, son Bill Knowlton of Glad Valley, twelve grandchildren, fifteen greatgrandchildren , a sister and a brother, her countless students and special friends; the Jim Jameson family.
A memorial has been established.
