Mattie Lauderdale Brown, 74, a retired Southwestern Bell Telephone service representative, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, in Arlington.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Blessing Colonial Chapel in Mansfield. Burial: Skyvue Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield.

Mattie Brown was born Sept. 21, 1928, in Ackerly, the daughter of D.W. and Nora Woodell Lauderdale. She was raised in West Texas and married J.B. Brown when he returned from World War II. J.B. adored Mattie and she was the love of his life, as he was hers. Mattie will be remembered for her outspokeness humor and generosity.

Survivors: Son, Ronnie Brown and wife, Anita, of Cedar Park; daughter, Carol Cox and husband, Lloyd, of Arlington; sisters, Eulala Nix of Roseville, Calif., Beth Knowlton of McIntosh, S.D., Grace Joyner of San Antonio and Jo Reeves of Kissie Mill, Mo.; brothers, Clint Lauderdale of Washington, D.C. and Dale Lauderdale of Brook Park, Ohio; grandchildren, Angie McKay and husband, David, Matthew Lopez and Mellisa Sanderson; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Alyssa and Addison McKay and Katelyn, Sara and Cheyene Sanderson
