Henry Christopher Dasbach, son of Dr. Friedrich Dasbach of Thuringia, Germany, emigrated to America in 1844 at the age of sixteen. In Quincy, Adams county, Illinois, he learned the trade of tinsmith from Carl August Martz. In the same city on 13 May 1847, he wed Maria Christiana Schaller. They had several children: Mary, Reinhold, Amelia, George, William, Caroline, Edward, and Walter.

Henry Dasbach worked as a tinsmith all his adult life, and owned a tinsmith and stove shop in Quincy, Illinois.

Quoted from "History of Adams county," 1879: "He is a member of the German Protestant Association; Republican. He has been in business twenty-three years. His residence is on a large block, and is very desirable for a first-class home; erected with all modern improvements - shrubbery, grapery, ice-house, etc."

Henry Christopher "H.C." or "Chris" Dasbach passed away from complications of pneumonia at Blessing hospital in Quincy. His wife had passed away in 1892. H.C. Dasbach is buried in Woodland cemetery near his wife and family.
