First born of Henry Christopher Dasbach and Maria Christiana (Schaller) Dasbach. Her parents were immigrants who arrived from Germany in their teenage years. They married in Quincy, Illinois at age 18. Henry Christopher Dasbach, who also went by H.C. or "Chris" Dasbach, was a tinsmith.

Mary Dasbach was born 17 May 1848 according to her death certificate. She is on the 1850 census with her 20 year old parents in Quincy, Illinois. In that census Mary is listed as age 2.

In the 1860 census, she is listed with her parents, with the family surname spelled in the more Americanized "Dashback" - as it sometimes appeared on documents.

In the 1860 census are listed Henry and Christiana, both age 38, Mary age 12, Reinhold age 6, Amelia age 4, and George age 1. (The family of origin would later at least double in size.)

On 19 March 1868 in Adams county, Illinois, Mary Wilhelmina Dasbach wed William Jacob Bock. Her husband was originally from Germany.

In the 1870 census, William Bock age 29, Mary age 22 and their one year old daughter Amelia are enumerated in Quincy, Adams county, Illinois. William Bock is listed as a school teacher from Bavaria.

In the 1880 census, the couple are living in "the village of Columbus" in Adams county, Illinois. Despite all past censuses listing Mary as born in Illinois, this census lists her birth place (I believe erroneously) as Missouri, and her parents' birthplaces as "Bavaria" for her father (erroneous) and "Germany" for her mother (incomplete.)

This 1880 census gives more detail, with William Bock, age 39, listed as a music teacher. Mary and her children's middle initials are also listed: Mary W (age 32), Amelia M (age 10), Emma C (age 7), and Pauline B (age 2.) Strangely, the children's birthplaces are all listed as "Indiana," a place there is no record of this family having lived. Prior censuses list the children's birthplaces as Illinois.

The 1890 census was destroyed in a fire for all of the United States.

The 1900 census lists Mary as a widow, with children Amelia (31), Paulina (22) and Walter (17) living with her. The family is now living in Manistee city and county in Michigan. In this census, Mary's birthplace is listed as Illinois, with both parents from Germany. Her children's birthplaces are listed as Illinois, with their father's birthplace in Germany (the late William), and their mother's in Illinois (Mary.)

The 1900 census lists occupations for the household members: Mary, W. G. 0-3-0 which is perhaps code for widow? Amelia is a laundress, Paulina is a type setter, and Walter sells clothing. We also see that Amelia and Paulina were employed for every month that year, but Walter was out of work one month.

In the 1910 census, Mary's last, she lives in Manistee city, Manistee county, Michigan, with her daughter, Amelia (Bock) Jensen age 39, and Amelia's husband Theodore J Jensen age 42. The Jensens have been married 10 years. Mary's son and Amelia's brother Walter, age 27, also lives in the household. Theodore's parents were Danish, and Theodore works as a landscape gardener in 1910; he owned his home. Theodore's brother in law, Walter W Bock was working as a clerk in a post office.

On 21 June 1913, Mary (Dasbach) Bock died of asthma in Manistee, Michigan. She was 65. Her father's name is written as Henry Dasbach (mistranscribed "Henry Doeback") and her mother is listed as "don't know." Mary's occupation is listed as "Housekeeper." According to her death certificate, Mary W. Dasbach Bock is buried in Oak Grove cemetery in Manistee, Michigan.
