Services for Rema DeJong of Sheridan will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the McMinnville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bill Lineberry will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville. The funeral home will be open from 9 a.m. to noon for viewing.
Mrs. DeJong died Sept. 25 in her home. She was 81.
Born Jan. 9, 1913, in Silver Bow, Mont., she was the daughter of Joe and Ellen Schevenius Pedranti. she moved to Kalama, Wash., in 1918 and to Sheridan in 1927. She graduated from Sheridan High School.
She and John DeJong were married Sept. 5, 1937, in Sheridan.
After their marriage, the DeJongs moved to Tigard. In 1942, they moved to a farm near Sheridan where they raised a family and operated a dairy and grain farm.
Mrs. DeJong was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, traveling, dancing and being a grandmother.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Calvin DeJong of Sheridan; two daughters, Patricia Saunders of Sheridan and Pamela Wall of Beaverton; three sisters, Easter Holland of Perrydale, Lily Suhs of St. Helens and Edna Verbovanec of Tillamook; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores DeJong, in 1942 and by a sister, two brothers and one granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Yamhill County or to the Alzheimers Disease Association.
