Winston married 30 Nov 1841 to Nancy Ann BRYANT, the daughter of William and Sarah BRYANT. Winston was 26 and his bride was 16. Winston and Nancy started a family. They would eventually have seven children, but the spacing between births leads me to believe that there might have been other children who did not survive.
In 1850, Winston farmed land in Monroe Co IN near Nancy's father's property. Sometime between 1857 and 1860 Winston and Nancy moved west to Henderson Co IL. Her father, William BRYANT, already in his 70s, moved his family to Henderson IL as well. William BRYANT's property is valued at $1500 in the 1860 census, while in comparison Winston's is a much more modest $440.
Sometime between 1862 & 1866 Winston and Nancy moved their family further west to Nodaway County, MO. Nodaway County, MO and nearby Page Co, IA had been settlement destinations for some of Winston's Burch cousins so it's possible that Winston was influenced by family to select this area. It's also likely that Nancy's parents had passed away in the early 1860s and that she and her sister inherited their property. Nancy's widowed sister Catherine Dobbins joined the Burch household.
By the 1870 Census the last of their seven children had been born. Their oldestchild Provine, had died prematurely and the second, Josephine, married. The third, Sarah, would marry in 1873. Winston continued to farm. His property value had grown by 1870 to $1500.
Winston died in early 1880 at the age of 65.
