Mrs. Francis M Atwood, 81 years old, died at her home near Cadiz last Wednesday evening, following a long illness. Mrs. Atwood, before marriage was Martha Ann Jones. She was born May 27, 1857. One brother of the Jones family, Mr. S G Jones, of Charleston, Mo., alone now survives.


She was married to Frances M Atwood of this county, December 16, 1874. Her husband passed away February 7, 1922. Nine children were born to this union, three dying in infancy. The surviving children are H P Atwood, Julian Atwood, Cadiz; Garnett Atwood, Louisvile; Mrs. H G Wadlington, Hopkinsville; Miss Nora Atwood, who made her home with her mother and Mrs. J O Alexander, of the county. Nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.


For 58 years Mrs. Atwood was a member of the Blue Spring Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at the home last Thursday afternoon and burial was in East End Cemetery, Cadiz. Rev. Bailey Davis, pastor of the Cadiz Baptist Church had charge of the services.
