Public Servant Dies In Cadiz
Cadiz, Ky. - Henry Presley Atwood, 94, who had served two terms as state senator from Trigg County and two terms as Trigg County sheriff, died today at 7:45am at Shady Lawn Nursing Home, here.
He had been in declining health for many years.
A Trigg County native, Mr. Atwood was born September 26, 1875, a son of Francis Marion and Martha Jones Atwood. He was married to Birch Wadlington, who died several years ago. A son, Ellis Atwood, also proceded him in death.
Mr. Atwood had been a member of Cadiz Masonic Lodge for more than 60 years and was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church.
Surviving are two brothers, Julian Atwood, Cadiz, and Garnett Atwood, Louisville; a sister Miss Nora Atwood and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 10:30am at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz with the Rev. Marshall Mine officiating. Burial will be in East End Cemetery.
