Imogene Phillips, age 89, of Monett, Mo., passed from this life on Friday morning, May 18, 2012 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo., following a lengthy illness.
Imogene was born on Sept. 13, 1922 in Carroll County, Ark., the daughter of the late Jack and Stella (Gurley) Moore.
She was a graduate of Kingston High School in Kingston, Ark. Imogene retired from Jumping-Jacks Shoes and later had worked as a cook for the Monett Schools. She was a member of the Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church and had also volunteered with the Cox Monett Hospital Auxiliary as well as with Loaves and Fishes.
On July 8, 1942 in Berryville, Ark., Imogene Moore and Orlie Phillips were united in marriage. They were blessed with over 54 years together before his passing in 1996. Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Carolyn Cook; and her four sisters, Elsie, Marie, Boonie and Flora.
Survivors include her son, J.L. Phillips, of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Fred Moore, of Oologah, Okla. and Claude Moore and wife, Collene, of Stotts City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Terry Phillips, of Nixa, Mo., Scot Phillips, of Springfield, Jackie Sapko, of Springfield and Jamie McCarroll, of Mesquite, Texas; five great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Phillips were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel in Monett. Reverend Lee Neill officiated. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, Cox Monett Hospital Auxiliary or to Loaves and Fishes in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
