Garnett Columbus Rich

Mr. Garnett Columbus Rich, age 92, of Blairsville, GA, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2001, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Born in Union County, GA, on Monday, December 14, 1908, a son of the late Robert Rich and Martha Flowers Rich. He had lived in Blairsville for most of his life. A grandson, Barry Davis, passed away in 1999.

Survivors include his wife, Geno Hughes Rich, of Blairsville; Son, Eugene Rich, of Blairsville; Daughters: Exola Gates, Leola Lyons, and Evaline Burkart, all of Marietta; and Sue Caudill, of Kennesaw; a sister, Maggie McClure, of Blairsville: Eleven grandchildren fourteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 20, 2001, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Jerry Karnes officiating. Special music was presented by The Faith Singers. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Larue Rich, Eddie Rich, Tim Rich, Matt Caudill, David Burns, and Eddie Rich, Jr. The following gentlemen served as honorary escort to the family: Ronnie Caudill, Frank Burkart, Tony Rich, Ernie Sistrnk, Shannon Caudill, and John Harris. Interment was in Antioch Baptist church Cemetery.
