She married Conrad Schmelcher (who later changed the spelling of his name to Smelker) in Kent County, Michigan, in 1879. She passed away in Irving Township, Michigan, due to complications of childbirth. She was survived by her husband, Conrad, and a daughter, Olive. She was preceded in death by her triplet daughters just a week before her passing.
