William George Helrigel, the son of William and Sarah (Crumback) Helrigel, was born 9 July 1861 in Black Horse Corners, North Dumfries Township, Waterloo County, Ontario. In 1862 the family moved to Bowne Township, Kent County, Michigan, where he lived until sometime after 1900 (perhaps after the death of his mother in 1902) when he moved to Irving Township, Barry County, Michigan. He died in Freeport 16 September 1908. In the 1900 census, his mother was living with his family.
He married Susannah Herber November 2, 1887. They had four daughters, Edith Mae 1888–1982, Nora Belle 1891–1994, Beulah L. 1896–1992 and Lulu E. 1896–1915.
