Mary Ann Helrigel was born 14 September 1854 in North Dumfries Township, Waterloo County, Ontario, to William and Sarah (Crumback) Helrigel. The family moved to Bowne Township, Barry County, Michigan, in 1862. She married Henry Leismer 24 December 1871 at Caledonia, Kent, Michigan. They farmed in North Bay for 16 years and then moved to Petoskey where Henry operated the Leismer Store and then the Leismer Racket Store. They were members of Trinity Evangelical Church. Children: Allen, Josephine Sarah, Olive B., Clarence H., and Henry B.
