"Mr. Bennett - Dear Sis, I have the painful task this morning of informing you of the - Death - of your son Alderson - he died this morning at 4.O'clock at Brigate Hospital. His disease was complicated - he was taken with Typhoid Fever and afterward his liver was affected becoming inactive which was the cause of his death. So the Dr. says. He had been back to Nashville to the hospital, and had been to the Co., but a few days; he got wet while on the way here. He had not got recruited up full over the campaign last winter -- I am happy to be abel while writing too you these sad new to say to you that your boy was a good soldier, highly respected by his comrads and officers -- I will have a __arl put up at his grave with his name, Co., and Reg. an any information that you may want - that - I can give will be given with pleasure. Wm Bennett. I am very respectfully, Your obedient Servant F. C. Phillips."
