Funeral Rite Set for Resident of Villa, 85
December 1, 1969

Funeral services for John P. Gundert, 85, formerly of Mount Calvary, who died at 9:30 a.m., Monday at Villa Lorretto, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Mount Calvary.

Mr. Gundert was born Feb. 27, 1884, in Johnsburg, a son of Peter and Gertrude Michels Gundert. He married Catherine Freund. He farmed until 1940 and then moved to New Holstein, retiring 13 years ago. He was a member of Holy Cross Church at Mount Calvary and the Holy Name Society of the parish.

Survivors include one son, Ralph Gundert of Silica; four daughters, Mrs. Val Weber and Miss Edna Gundert, both of Mount Calvary, Mrs. Herman Birschbach of Schiller Park, Ill.and Mrs. Clarence Gudex of North Fond du Lac; 27 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Nick Birschbach and Mrs. Barbara Schmitz of Mount Calvary; and one brother, Matt Gundert of Mount Calvary. He was preceded in deaath by his wife.
