William C. Campbell was born in Tennessee in the early 1800s. He married Temperance Mercer, daughter of Tolliver Mercer and Eliza Pierce. In 1850 they were living in Holmes County, Mississippi. In 1860 they were still in Mississippi, in Attala County. All their children were born in Mississippi. Temperance died in 1865 in Attala County, Mississippi. Sometime after 1865 some or all of the family moved to Texas, to Houston County.

Sarah Campbell, born about 1837
Mary Campbell, born about 1840
David Campbell,born about 1840
Margaret Campbell,born about 1842
William M. Campbell, born about 1848
John P. Campbell, born about 1852
Silas Sam Campbell, born about 1855
Susan Campbell, born in 1857

William Campbell died in 1874 in Houston County.
