David Campbell and his wife Susan, raised two of his nieces, Emma Lou and Frances "Fannie" Campbell, who were daughters of his brother James and wife Celestine Sprawls who was killed in the Civil War . David and Susan moved to Lincoln County, Arkansas and lived there many years. Susan died in 1894 and is buried at Palmyra Cemetery in Lincoln County. David moved to Texas and died in the Confederate Veterans home in Austin.
