Virgil F. Healy
Virgil F. Healy, 71, formerly of Mustang Drive, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Defiance Hospital, where he was a patient for two weeks. He had resided at Twin Rivers Nursing Care Center for the past 2 1/2 years. He was born April 7, 1916, in Defiance, the son of William and Zepha Anna (Shock)Healy. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He formerly was employed at Central Foundry and Indiana Briquetting Corp. in Defiance. He was a Life member ofVFW Post 3360, and was a former member of the Defiance Moose Lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Leaser of Fremont; two sons, William and Frederick, both of Toledo; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Marion of 134 Cleveland Ave., Richard of 1115 Ottawa Ave. and Paul of New Haven, Ind.; four sisters, Marguerite Perkins of Stryker, Mrs.Charles (Delores) English Sr. of Route 7, Mrs Robert (Joann) Brown of route 1, New Bavaria and Mrs. Illene Ballbaugh of Fort Wayne. Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Sharon; and a sister, Goldie Davis. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mast and Mock Funeral Home. Rev Russel Bowditch will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, where VFW Post3360 will conduct graveide military rites. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
