Napoleon Boone was the grandson of the legendary frontiersman, Daniel Boone. He was the son of Daniel Morgan and Sarah Griffin (Lewis) Boone. Reputedly, he was the first white child born in Kansas. He was born at the Indian Agency farm, about 7 miles up the Kansas River from Lawrence. He was the 12th of 12 children. His father was an agricultural agent at the nearby Kanza Indian Agency. At the time, the Boones were one of only two or three white families known to be living in the Indian-occupied territory. He never married.
