Richard Carl Klinder, age 64 years, of 1602 Elston Street, Michigan City, Indiana, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 1949 in St. Anthony Hospital following a three day illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, February 21, 1949 in the Marvin Hass funeral home. Rev. Luther Meyer will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, February 20, 1949 afternoon and evening and on Monday until the funeral hour. Mr. Klinder, a Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing Company employee, had resided here 42 years. He was born August 6, 1884, in Biere, Germany, the son of Ferdinand and Karolina Klinder. He immigrated to U.S. with his parents and settled in Michigan City in 1905 at twenty-one years of age. He married Louisa A. Kauffman on November 26, 1906 with whom he fathered two children who are surviving; Fred Klinder of Michigan City and Hilda (George) Vacick of East Chicago, Indiana. Wife Louisa preceded Richard in death on October 11, 1910 at the age of 23 years leaving behind their two small children Hilda 3 years of age and little Fred only 1 year of age. On April 29, 1911, in this city, he married a widow Amelia Rachow Koltenbeck who survives. Also surviving are the following two step-children; Mrs. Irene (Harvey) Dibkey, and Ben Koltenbeck, and three children which he fathered with Amelia; Alvin Klinder and Gertrude (Clarence) Downs, all of this city; Mrs. Jeannette (Robert Joseph); seven grandchildren and two sisters; Mrs. Hilda (William) Brose and Mrs. Carl Yungnickel of Michigan City, Indiana.
