Rose was the daughter of George Sofie and Christina Scaringi. Her paternal grandparents were Feliciantonio Sofia and Carolina Serritella. Rose's maternal grandparents were Carlo Scaringi and Maria Donata Tetti, of Muro Lucano, Italy.

"A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, 5303 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, for former Sequim resident Rose (Sofie) Beham. Mrs. Beham died Feb. 5, 2006, at the age of 92. She was born Jan. 10, 1914, in Sequim to George and Christina (Scaringi) Sofie. She attended Sequim High School and graduated in 1932. She married Merrill D. Beham in Seattle, on June 15, 1935. Mrs. Beham was a homemaker while being very active in fraternal organizations, volunteering and care giving.

She was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Bremerton Post No. 239 Ladies Auxiliary and Reliance Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She was a Washington state department president of Veterans Foreign Wars in 1958, and a Worthy Matron of Reliance Chapter Order of Eastern Star in 1983. She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Order of Eastern Star. She was the Sequim Irrigation Festival queen in 1925 and was the oldest surviving queen to date.

The Sofie family settled on Palo Alto Road in Sequim in 1883. The family home built in 1900 is still occupied on the family farm. She took great pride in her home, taking care of her roses and tending to her yard and garden. She also provided long and short-term care for several close and extended family members over the years."
